Hey there, anon! Wow, I love “Sliders” too so thanks for this! I’m not sure if I should just comment on this or actually answer it. If I was on “Sliders” I would definitely be a “Wade”, though (who was my favorite).
A WARNING TO YOU
DO NOT WATCH OUTLANDER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SUDDENLY START FINDING MEN IN KILTS REALLY ATTRACTIVE.
DON’T DO IT.
What anyone viciously defending Paige’s actions seem to forget she said to Sid besides the false name he was hospitalized under. (via ampersandjunkie)
I’ve thought about this one a lot and gone back and forth on it. I actually don’t think that was her intention at the time, but her anger speaking in that particular scene. I don’t think she actually wanted Mike done for when shutting down the compound.
And trust me when I say that I’m not defending her actions, I just think the meaning/motivation behind that line is not what it appears to be on the surface.
This is what Paige stopped Sid from finishing:
She knew what she was doing. The writers have confirmed that Paige’s intentions in going to Sid were for Mike to die, because that was the only way to balance the scales. This isn’t really a disputable thing anymore.
She was acting from a place of severe trauma, and she clearly regrets what she did as soon as she does it, but that doesn’t change the fact that she intended for Mike to die in that moment.
Sadly, I have to agree with this. I just rewatched the scene in the next episode, when Mike and Paige are talking in her room (when she’s trying to make her musical ballerina “broken” again). This is their dialogue, verbatim:
Paige: What’s up?
Mike: I wanted to say thank you.
Paige: For what?
Mike: For saving my life, with Sid.
Paige: Well, you would have done the same for me.
Mike: He would’ve killed me.
Paige: Well, we used to have something special.
So while it’s true her judgment was heavily influenced by her grief and trauma, and she was regretful after the fact, this shows that it WAS confirmed knowledge to her that Sid wanted to kill Mike in Sylmar, and in general.
